volantín

SYNOPSIS

volantín

The kite is a particular form of the art of kite making, handmade from paper, glue and coigue sticks. It arrived, after an intricate journey, from Indonesia to Chile, a country that adopted it as a republican tradition. For this reason, the most common design is that of a Chilean flag, followed by others of an abstract and multicolored nature. The day of the recording of the performance commemorated the 50th anniversary of the civil-military coup against the democratically elected government of the Unidad Popular. This commemoration took place in a very polarized context, including fake news questioning the Republic, and in the midst of a constituent process highly criticized by the public opinion.
