LaColectiva was created in 2015 and is made up of women artists, masters in Fine Arts graduated from the Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga, Colombia, who within their professional development have worked both in areas of art and culture of the city, They have worked in different disciplines and tasks that have strengthened the creative process through interdisciplinary work, the development and application of methodologies as well as the collaboration with other collectives or groups with the aim of supporting and making visible the work of women artists in Bucaramanga. LaCollectiva has been working on the artistic work in Santander and reflecting on gender and its socio-cultural implications; from these concerns, a search for identity is initiated through artistic expressions that, in line with their own experiences, raise analysis, questioning and discussion of the roles assigned and related to the feminine, to generate knowledge and contribute to social transformations in the region. Our creative process starts in many places, some spaces are “common” for us, encounters that seem inevitable; however, we are also interested in learning about our own feelings and experiences in order to strengthen individual processes and achieve significant objectives together. Completely diverse, aware of the patriarchal state and culture that runs through us, we gather in a constant reflection on ourselves, on our burdens, our struggles and on what surrounds us, because the personal becomes political. We created this space as a social laboratory, to detach ourselves from the naturalization of things and in this process we will continue to be women seeking to break down internalized barriers by learning to work together and revolt.
