SYNOPSIS
Chickens used to fly
Research has learned that the most primitive ancestors of chickens were dinosaurs. Through years of evolution and conscious domestication of the species, chickens eventually lost their ability to fly and became food on our plates. However, chickens have paid a price through domestication, but have also become one of the most abundant animals. On this level, it fits the human definition of success.
My project “Chickens Used to Fly” explores human rights, women’s rights, animal rights, and the ways in which modern society and artificial intelligence have trained us to be “chickens”: Ironic, metaphorical, dystopian realism Additionally, In the context of my homeland China, this work also reflects the issues of censorship (and vice versa: freedom).
