Sara Brum - (Portugal/Spain)

Ás palmas das mãos não se mente

SYNOPSIS

To the palms of your hands you do not lie

Using as a starting point the book “Paisagem com mulher e mar ao fundo” by Teolinda Gersão, this work explores the relationship between cinema and literature from an ecofeminist, symbolic and fantastic perspective. Using the creation of imaginary characters, homemade costumes and photographic archives, it appropriates some of the author’s reflections on waiting, nostalgia and the Portuguese overseas wars, relocating them in the insular context of Terceira (Açores) and creating a dreamlike, magical and performative world that transports the viewer to imagination and contemplation.

BIO

Sara Coelho-Sara Brum choose the name Sara Sinai to dissociate themselves from the nation and make the body their space of enunciation. From an eco-feminist, somatic, symbolic and poetic perspective, they approach a multidisciplinary, deeply imperfect and intuitive work that ranges from visual arts, performance, words or mediation.
