How South American Live Art overturns the spectacle

Exhibition and CONTINGENT CONVERSATION with Lucio Agra

I propose a talk focused on the topics that have been the subject of my most recent research at my University (Federal University of Reconcavo de Bahia – UFRB) and currently in the postdoctoral stage that I am doing in São Paulo and Buenos Aires. Such issues have to do with the intertwining of three aspects that seem crucial to understand a decolonial perspective of the arts in our continent: the question of the decadence of spectacle, the body and presence, and the “ritual anthropophagy” proposed as artistic avant-garde in 1928 by the Brazilian poet and essayist Oswald de Andrade (1890-1954).

LUCIO AGRA

He is an adjunct professor at the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia and a permanent member of the Graduate Program in Contemporary Arts Studies at UFF. He has experience in the area of Communication and Arts, with emphasis in Semiotics of the Arts, working mainly on the following topics: poetry – poetics – art and technologies, performance – body arts, performance, poetry – electronic and digital poetry and performance – art, technology and avant-garde, communication theories.
